The Senior Executive Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy (SEVP-GR&PP) is the top position leading ICBA’s advocacy team of nearly 30 staff, and a strategic member of the Executive Management Team (EMT), providing thought leadership to the association’s strategic direction and other association matters. Reporting to the ICBA President/CEO, the SEVP-GR&PP will lead the Government Relations team in the development of ICBA’s public policy positions and strategies, and the comprehensive advocacy, communication, and networking activities needed to achieve their success.

In this role, the SEVP-GR&PP will be responsible for continuously anticipating and assessing opportunities and threats in the community banking industry and respond proactively and appropriately on behalf of both ICBA members and the stakeholders they serve. The successful candidate will seek to build on the excellent reputation and extensive support ICBA enjoys among not just ICBA members but all other stakeholders in the legislative and regulatory arenas. Guiding the overall government relations program as a visible contributor to the maintenance and enhancement of ICBA’s reputation, credibility, and effectiveness while serving the best interests of its members will be key to success in the position. This role demands an experienced and accomplished critical thinker and organizational manager capable of overseeing the work of five direct reports and extended staff of 27 charged with advancing ICBA’s goals in the legislative and regulatory arenas, as well as other targeted audiences.

Ideal candidates will have 20+ years of experience, including ten years in a leadership role, in government relations, advocacy, and policy development, preferably in the financial services industry.
