Chief Operating Officer
The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) is looking for a dynamic and business minded leader to serve as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual provides leadership, management, and vision necessary to lead ASTRO’s core business operations of Membership, Clinical Programs, Quality Programs and Journals Management. The COO ensures the organization has the proper organizational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and business systems in place to effectively grow the organization and ensure operational efficiency.
Founded in 1958, ASTRO’s mission is to advance the practice of radiation oncology by promoting excellence in patient care, providing opportunities for educational and professional development, promoting research and disseminating research results and representing radiation oncology in a rapidly evolving health care environment.
Working closely with the CEO, the role will develop annual operational plans to support the achievement of the organization’s strategic goals. Bringing a project management mindset, the COO will collaborate with staff leaders to ensure optimal organizational workload distribution and headcount and the exemplarily execution of ASTRO programming. The COO will ensure a culture that emphasizes both a customer-centric mindset and data driven decision making.
ASTRO’s office is located in Arlington, VA, with the Crystal City metro station located in their building. ASTRO’s employees enjoy a hybrid schedule and the COO will work from the office on a regular basis.
