AIHA, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, is a nonprofit professional association whose mission focuses on occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) and is dedicated to protecting workers and their communities from occupational and environmental hazards through the application of scientific knowledge. The vision of AIHA is a world where all workers and their communities are healthy and safe.

AIHA is seeking a Chief Executive Officer who will provide enterprise-level leadership across AIHA and its related entities, ensuring that the organization’s strategy, governance, operating model, and mission delivery are aligned across the broader enterprise. In addition to leading the association, the CEO must work effectively with AIHA’s affiliated LLCs and foundations, whose activities contribute materially to the organization’s professional credibility, programmatic reach, and overall value proposition to the OEHS community.

AIHA's next CEO, in partnership with governance, will help position the organization and the profession for the future, increase membership and volunteer engagement, manage external relationships with affiliated and adjacent organizations, and ensure financial sustainability through disciplined execution and innovation. The ideal candidate will serve as a visible, trusted voice for the profession while aligning the board, staff, volunteers, and members around a coherent long-term direction.

The association is a mature yet evolving organization with nearly 8,500 members, more than half of whom are certified industrial hygienists (CIHs). The organization operates in an environment shaped by scientific change, questions about professional identity, workforce pipeline concerns, and increasing expectations for member value and organizational adaptability.

AIHA is headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, operates on a hybrid schedule with an annual budget of $18.5 million, and employs 55 staff members, and has eight direct reports to the CEO.
