The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) seeks its inaugural Chief Global Membership & Volunteer Engagement Officer (CGMVEO) reflecting on the ASCE’s commitment to elevating membership and volunteer engagement as a strategic enterprise priority — placing member value, community vitality, and volunteer impact at the center of how the Society operates and grows.

Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation's oldest and most prestigious engineering society, representing more than 160,000 civil engineers worldwide. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia with an office in Washington, DC, ASCE advances the civil engineering profession by serving members, informing the public, and engaging government and industry to address the infrastructure challenges facing our nation and the world. Through its advocacy, technical publications, professional development programs, and rigorous infrastructure report card work, the Society is a vital voice in shaping policy and practice across transportation, water, energy, and the built environment. ASCE has a budget of $60 Million and a staff of 253 and operates in hybrid/remote environment.

 Serving as a member of a matrix/cross-functional leadership team, the CGMVEO will provide enterprise-wide strategic leadership for ASCE’s global membership, volunteer communities, new member acquisition and retention, the ASCE Foundation, and the Society’s customer service function. This leader will manage a team and shape the experience and engagement of 8,000+ volunteers worldwide.

 The CGMVEO will partner closely with the CEO, COO, Chief MarComm Officer, Board of Directors, and volunteer leadership to strengthen ASCE’s member value proposition, ensure the health and vitality of ASCE’s member communities, and foster a culture of belonging and excellence across the Society’s entire volunteer network.
