James Zaniello

Jim Zaniello is a nationally recognized leader in executive search, known for his deep expertise in recruiting top-tier talent for associations and nonprofits. As the founder and president of Vetted Solutions, launched in 2010, Jim has built a firm that is synonymous with integrity, insight, and excellence in executive search and consulting.

With more than 20 years of experience across the nonprofit and association sectors, Jim brings a rare combination of strategic vision and operational know-how. His career spans roles as an association executive director, publisher of a leading executive search resource, and senior executive at SmithBucklin, where he led multiple organizations through periods of growth and transformation.

Jim’s leadership is grounded in firsthand experience. He has served as executive director for several associations, including the OsteoArthritis Research Society International and the Community Financial Services Association, giving him a nuanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing today’s CEOs.

Prior to founding Vetted Solutions, Jim spent a decade as vice president at a prominent Washington, DC-area search firm, where he led hundreds of successful executive placements. His approach is both rigorous and relational—leveraging a vast network and a keen understanding of organizational culture to match leaders with mission-driven institutions.

Jim is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and has held key leadership roles within the organization, including Chair of its political action committee and member of the Foundation Development Committee. He was honored with ASAE’s Academy of Leadership Award in 2020, recognizing his enduring contributions to the field.

His board service reflects his commitment to community and innovation, with past and current roles at the Catholic Disability Foundation, Community Health Accreditation Program, SeniorNet, and the Institute for Technology in Healthcare. He also serves on the Americas Council and Membership Committee of the Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University and completed graduate-level coursework at The George Washington University.
